Healing & Detoxing - Why is it so Difficult?
Understanding how your body heals itself can go a LONG WAY in helping you "read" what's going on inside your body and work with it towards healing, rather than either trying to force it or getting frustrated and giving up, which many people do.
In this section we will discuss what will likely happen when your body is going through the healing process.
Toxin Buildup
Most of us understand that we are exposed to toxins in our everyday life; that we ingest toxins via our food, water, and other drinks, medicines, cleaning supplies, polluted air, etc, etc.
We've been told that most of these toxins (food, water, drink, and meds) are within "acceptable levels" and so we shouldn't really worry about those toxins. However, we've been told that we should be very wary of environmental toxins.
Either way, most of us know that we have toxins in our bodies and that somehow this is related to being sick. But we don't really know much more than that.
Like, what exactly is a toxin? What does the body do with toxins once they are inside of us? How does it get rid of them?
What is a toxin?
We're going to take an extremely simplified approach to this question and give you an answer that you can easily apply in nearly any situation.

For all intents and purposes, toxins are anything not naturally occurring. They are generally something man-made. And even though the "experts" tell us that these things are safe for us to ingest in "low amounts", they do not account for accumulation of these toxins over time, or how this accumulation will affect your body and your health - or even how an accumulation of toxins has a huge role to play in causing sickness and disease.
Bottom Line?
The bottom line is pretty simple:
If it isn't something that used to be living (plant or animal) or it isn't something naturally occurring in nature (salt, minerals) then your body will consider it a foreign substance and treat it as a toxin... even if it looks like food or if you've been told it's "Ok".

Your liver and kidneys will do their best to filter these OUT of the body. Eventually they won't be able to keep up. In our modern world, toxins are coming into the body faster than the body can process them out.
So, then what happens? I mean, the toxins are, well... toxic, right? They can't stay IN the body, can they?

Obviously, they're certainly not supposed to. But if your body becomes so bogged down that it can't process the toxins out, it starts implementing its emergency protocol. Basically, it starts STUFFING them somewhere. Where do you think that is?

Into your fat cells. You know those stubborn pounds that will never come off no matter how much you exercise and how clean you eat? "It must be because I'm getting older and my metabolism just can't keep up like it used to..." Perhaps. But more likely is that your body has taken the toxic substances that it could not properly get rid of when you ingested them and has encapsulated them in fat to keep them from harming you. Kind of gives you a different perspective on those love handles, doesn't it.
The fat and the toxins will continue to sit there and be stored in this way until the body heals itself. Why 'when the body heals itself'? Because the first thing the body will do when it starts to heal itself is to clean out the cells.
"So, are you saying that if I detox my body, I'll not only start the healing process,
but I'll probably end up losing weight too?? If so, sign me up!! I'll go do a detox right now!!"
WAIT JUST A MINUTE. THERE IS A CATCH & IT'S AN IMPORTANT ONE!!
This is where we come full circle to the original question,
"Why is healing and detoxing so difficult??".

Because your body is already sick. It is already tired. It is already dealing with more than it can handle. If it wasn't, you wouldn't be sick. It has had to go to secondary (emergency) protocols for years - stuffing toxins into fat cells - just to get them out of your system and into a place where they can't harm you.

Now you want to start detoxing. You want to force the body to release these toxins out of where they have been safely stored for years - probably even decades - and dump them into your organs and bloodstream where your system has to figure out what to do with them again.
How do you think your sick, over-tired, and over-worked body is going to handle that? If your liver and kidneys were so bogged down 10, 15, 30 years ago and couldn't properly process these toxins out of the body THEN, what makes you think they'll be able to do it NOW when they are in worse shape?

There is a solution, however, this is a serious topic to be aware of when you are actively looking to
heal your body from pain, sickness, and disease.
The Herxheimer Reaction
When you do a cleanse or detox - or even just when your body is undergoing the healing process, the cells begin to release previously contained toxins into the bloodstream to be processed out of the body.
In addition, you are likely also killing off harmful microorganisms and bacteria. This is good, of course. But when these things "die off" they also release endotoxins into the bloodstream.

The Herxheimer Reaction is a natural bodily process triggered when too many of these toxins enter the bloodstream at once. This results in greater toxicity in the body.

When this occurs, the immune system responds by triggering an acute immune response resulting in inflammation that may be experienced throughout the body.
This can actually cause a temporary worsening of a person's current symptoms and/or the development of new symptoms (such as bloating, water weight gain, brain fog, chills, constipation, cramps, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, headaches, irritability, joint pain, lethargy, muscle pain, nausea, skin irritation, sore throat).

The Herxheimer reaction can cause temporary pain, discomfort, and worsening of symptoms depending on the level of inflammation triggered by the immune system, which is directly correlated to the amount of toxins that have been released into your bloodstream.

If someone is unaware that this inflammation reaction is part of the body's healing process, they will likely stop treatment all together. The irony, of course, is that this worsening of symptoms actually means that the treatment is working.

Stopping the treatment is not the answer. On the other hand, healing (detoxing) too quickly can be
dangerous depending on the amount of toxins being released.
The Solution
The solution is to listen to your body and take things slowly.

Understand that healing means detoxing and detoxing very often means a temporary increase in symptoms as your body is dealing with those toxins that have just been released into your system.

It's an ebb and flow.
When your inflammation symptoms increase, back off of your protocol and give your body the time it needs to process the toxins out of your body. When your inflammation symptoms decrease again you can resume your healing/detoxing protocol.
The Herxheimer reaction doesn't happen to everyone and often the symptoms are very mild, but it is something everyone should be aware of when undergoing any sort of protocol that will heal the body. It is also important to understand that the body cannot heal itself without detoxing, so this process is necessary and will happen no matter which method/device you use to get well.
This is why we suggest starting with shorter sessions and working your way up to longer sessions one you know how your body will react. We also suggest clearing the lymphatic system first and drinking lots of water to keep the body hydrated and to help it flush out whatever toxins are released.

For people with very serious diseases or those who anticipate having a heavy Herxheimer reaction, we suggest starting treatment by drinking Terahertz-charged water only (you will find instructions for this in the FAQ section of the "Additional Information" page). Once you do well with the THz-charged water, you can then progress to short treatments directly on the body with your device. Then longer treatments as you gauge the extent and degree of your body's inflammation reaction to the healing process.
